To celebrate the release of my new song “Blush,” and I wanted to let you all in on a little secret and tell you the story of how this song came to be!!! So a little over a year ago I saw this trend on TikTok (yes, I'm a doomscroller sometimes too) where girls were posting their favorite blushes--as in the makeup product--with the final slide being their significant other. I thought it was sooo cute!!!! I became obsessed with the word BLUSH…I just love how airy and light it sounds, and obviously I love the color pink. And it just so happened that last summer I was falling in love for the first time, and I wanted to capture the beauty of that feeling in this song.
Sometimes when I write a song I kind of have no idea where the production would go. But I knew for Blush I wanted it to mirror that same lightness of falling in love - like floating on top of a cloud. There is a lot of whispery vocal layering throughout the song if you pay attention! I was also listening to old Barbie movie soundtracks while I was making this, and I wanted to incorporate that similar kind of magic.
I also had the pleasure of working with @cherry_cherry_club, who made me into my own Myscene/Lizzie McGuire-esque animation that I included above. She did such a great job and I absolutely love the way it turned out. What a dream come true!!!!!!!
